Bullock cart mishap: Man fatally run over during event in western India
The incident took place in Waluj village is located in Khanapur tehsil of Sangli district on April 6.
According to reports, the bullock cart racing event was organized to commemorate the Urusa festival. Unfortunately, the event faced a setback when a young man lost his life after being crushed under a bullock cart wheel during the race. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Rohan Rajendra Ghorpade, suffered fatal injuries as the heavy wheel rolled over his body.
Despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital in Vitya, Rohan succumbed to his injuries en route. The incident occurred amidst the festivities in Walaj village, where running bullock carts has been a longstanding tradition. As per tradition, the bullock cart race commenced, but tragedy struck when one of the carts veered off course into the crowd of spectators. Rohan, caught in the frenzy, slipped and was fatally struck by the cart’s wheel, leading to his demise.
