Brave elderly protester faces water cannons in eastern India

In a dramatic confrontation in eastern India’s West Bengal, an elderly man courageously stood his ground against water cannons while participating in a protest.

The incident occurred in Kolkata city on August 27.

Visuals showed the elderly man passionately shouting slogans and demonstrating his support for the protest. His energetic demeanor was evident as he faced the water cannons deployed by the police to disperse the protesters.

According to reports, the protest was against the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government in connection with the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A large crowd had gathered around College Square in Kolkata for the ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ protest march, organized by the student platform ‘Chhatrasamaj’ and the ‘Sangrami Joutha Mancha’ of state government employees. The rally began from two locations: College Square in north Kolkata and Santragachi in Howrah.
