Bollywood actress, politician slapped by female CISF official at airport in northern India over remarks on farmer protest

A Bollywood actor and newly elected politician, claimed that a CISF security official slapped her in northern India’s Punjab.

The incident took place at Chandigarh International Airport in Chandigarh district on June 6.

Visuals showed the CISF jawans escorted the leader forward. There was an argument between the airport authority and the leader. The atmosphere was quite tense.

According to the reports, actress and recently elected BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Kangana Ranut was traveling to Delhi.

Ranaut alleged that as she was heading to the boarding area after the security check, the CISF official, Kulwinder Kaur, stationed at the curtain area, argued with her and slapped her.  The alleged slapping was provoked by Kangana’s comments about women in Punjab during the farmers’ agitation. Upon arriving in Delhi, Kangana met with CISF Director General Nina Singh and other senior officials to explain the incident.

A probe panel has been established to investigate Kangana’s claim, and the constable, Kulwinder, has been detained for questioning at the CISF Commandant Office.
Kangana defeated her Congress rival, Vikramaditya Singh, the scion of Rampur state and the current state public works minister, by a margin of 74,755 votes in the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency. She is only the fourth woman ever to be elected to the Lok Sabha from Himachal Pradesh and the first woman not from a former royal family.
