Blast rips through school wall in northern India, investigation agencies rush to the site
by ShravyaIn a tense incident in northern India’s Delhi, a blast tore through a wall of the CRPF school, causing widespread alarm.
The incident took place in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini area of North West Delhi district on October 20.
Visuals showed a destroyed portion of the school wall, shattered window panes of nearby shops, and damaged cars parked in the vicinity. The blast appeared life-threatening, with a massive cloud of white smoke visible from metres away.
According to reports, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other top security teams were immediately dispatched to investigate the explosion. Fortunately, no one was harmed. Authorities are probing a potential Khalistani link, with a circulating post online suggesting retaliation for actions taken against pro-Khalistan separatists.
Sources from the Delhi Police revealed it was a low-intensity IED controlled by a timer or remote, lacking shrapnel or ball bearings. Police believe the perpetrators intended to send a message to the authorities. After the blast, forensic teams from the NIA, National Security Guard (NSG), and CRPF secured the area and collected evidence from the site.
The sound of the explosion echoed hundreds of meters away, with locals suspecting the bomb was placed late at night. The device detonated between 7:35 and 7:40 a.m., according to nearby residents.
