BJP leader Arjun Singh claims attack on office-cum-residence in eastern India, police launch probe

Singh accused local police of inaction during the violent incident, which he described as an attack by “jihadi” goons.
The incident took place at Mazdoor Bhawan, located in North 24 Parganas on October 4.
Visuals showed a scene unfolding outside a house where multiple small bombs were detonating, sending thick clouds of smoke billowing upwards into the sky. The explosions create bursts of fire and debris, casting shadows against the surrounding structures. In the background, the chaos is palpable as people scatter, some shouting in alarm. Amidst the turmoil, an individual, standing at a safe distance, captures the dramatic events on their camera.
According to reports, Arjun Singh reported that a group of individuals threw stones, hurled bombs, and fired multiple gunshots at his office-cum-residence, known as Mazdoor Bhawan. Singh, who previously switched allegiance from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to the BJP, claimed he sustained a splinter wound during the attack.
A Jagatdal police officer confirmed that no injuries were reported and stated that senior officials and additional forces had been dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. In response to Singh’s allegations, Jagatdal MLA Somenath Shyam dismissed the claims, suggesting that Singh was attempting to blame the TMC for problems of his own making after losing his political footing in the recent general elections.
The incident has raised questions about the security situation in the area, as well as the involvement of local police during the violent confrontation.
