Bizarre incident in northern India: railway employee forced into marriage after demanding dowry

The girlfriend, determined to not let their love end, called him to a temple where, with the help of her family, she forced him into marriage.
The incident took place at Vidyapathi Dham temple in Samastipur and the video went viral on October 16.
Visuals showed inside the temple, the atmosphere was tense and chaotic as the bride and groom stood at the altar. The bride, adorned in not so traditional wedding attire, looked determined yet anxious, surrounded by her relatives who were firmly guiding the proceedings.
Groom’s body language was telling—shoulders slumped and eyes downcast, he appeared utterly unhappy, overwhelmed by the pressure from the bride’s family. They insisted on completing all the rituals, loudly urging him to follow their commands. Their voices filled the air, commanding and authoritative, as they dominated the situation, leaving him little room to express his own feelings. The contrast between the joyful occasion and the groom’s distress painted a stark picture of a wedding devoid of consent, with family members exerting their influence over him at every step.
According to reports, following his newfound employment, the man reportedly began to demand dowry, including a sum of ₹10 lakh and a Bullet motorcycle. Despite numerous attempts by the girlfriend to persuade him to reconsider, he remained adamant about his demands.
In a bold move, the girlfriend invited him to the temple under the pretext of discussing their relationship. Once there, tensions escalated as the couple began to argue over the marriage. This commotion drew the attention of bystanders, and with the support of her relatives, the girlfriend pressured the man into marrying her right then and there.The family of the bride confirmed that the couple had been in love for two years, but the groom’s behavior changed drastically after his employment with the railway department.
