Banquet hall fire engulfs building in northern India, intense blaze sparks panic
The incident took place at the under-construction Lotus Grenadier Banquet Hall in Sector-74 in Noida city of Gautam Buddh Nagar district on October 29.
Visuals showed the structure entirely swallowed by flames, with black smoke rising into the sky, illustrating the blaze’s intensity as locals scrambled to safety. The hall, primarily built with wood, contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, filling the air with dense smoke that impacted visibility and heightened fears among nearby residents.
According to reports, as soon as the fire was reported, nearly 15 fire brigade vehicles arrived one after the other to combat the inferno. Tragically, Parminder, an electrician employed at the site, was found dead, suspected to have succumbed to suffocation. DCP Noida and CFO Gautam Budh Nagar arrived with other officials to oversee the firefighting efforts. Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, initial investigations point to a possible cylinder explosion, with authorities considering all potential factors. Parminder’s body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the precise cause of death.
