Bank manager and assistant manager assaulted over loan dispute in central India
In a shocking incident in central India’s Chhattisgarh, three young men entered the State Bank of India (SBI) branch and assaulted the manager and assistant manager.
The incident took place in Bilaspur district on July 22.
Visuals showed three youths demanding documents related to the mortgaged land, stating they intended to sell the land to settle the loan. When the manager, Ankit Bhushan Lal, explained that no such rule existed, a heated dispute ensued. The situation escalated, and the youths physically assaulted both the manager and assistant manager, Prem Kumar Jaiswal, repeatedly slapping them.

According to reports, the altercation began when Labham Ram Tond (24), Vikas Bhardwaj (23), and Benish Bhardwaj (25) from Dhad village in Mungeli district visited the bank on Monday. One of the youths had taken a loan for a tractor and had mortgaged his land as collateral. The bank had recently sent him a notice for not paying the loan installment.

This violent episode disrupted bank operations and created an atmosphere of panic among the employees. The assaulted officials lodged a complaint at the Takhatpur police station, leading to the immediate arrest of the three youths. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

This event highlights the tensions that can arise from financial disputes and underscores the need for security and proper conflict resolution measures in banking institutions.
