Baba’s controversial alcohol De-addiction method sparks public debate in western India

A video of a Baba in western India’s Maharashtra administering a unique alcohol de-addiction ritual has ignited a firestorm on social media, raising questions about the efficacy and ethicality of such unconventional methods.

The incident took place in Jalgaon and the video went viral on June 27.

Visuals showed a devotee is sitting in the court of a Baba. A drunkard who went to this Baba to get rid of alcohol is seen to have been given prasad by Baba in his unique style. This prasad is the words taken from Baba’s mouth and the blessing given by the hand is seen by the drunken youth absorbed in devotion. Baba has given good chop to his Palmer devotees

Some devotees, visibly intoxicated, received blessings and prasad from the Baba in what appears to be a ritualistic attempt to purge the addiction. Shockingly, the scene escalates as the devotee’s father, present at the session, is seen physically admonishing his son, apparently in a bid to emphasize the severity of the addiction’s impact on their family.

Despite the chaotic scene, the devotee remains steadfast in his commitment, even urging the Baba to continue punishing him for his alcoholism.

The incident has sparked intense debate online, with many questioning the legitimacy of such methods and expressing concerns over the psychological and emotional impact on those seeking help for addiction.
