Assault at toll plaza: car driver rams into female toll worker in northern India
A shocking incident at a toll plaza, saw a car driver intentionally collide with a female toll worker before fleeing the scene in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, near Merath’s Partapur area on May 13.
Visuals showed at the toll plaza, a heated argument ensued between passengers in a car and the toll workers. Within moments, the driver of the car abruptly drove onto the platform, narrowly missing the toll worker standing in front, before speeding away from the scene.
According to reports a Swift car, a car from Delhi, refused to stop at the toll booth due to the absence of a Fastag. Confronted by female toll workers, the driver and companions hurled abuses and assaulted them. Munisha Chaudhary, a toll supervisor, bore the brunt as the car rammed into her, leaving her severely injured.
According to Pramod Dhanager, the manager of Kashi Toll Plaza, the driver’s motive was a mere ₹160 toll fee. Despite demands for payment, the occupants of the car refused and resorted to violence. Munisha is now hospitalized, prompting concerns among toll staff regarding escalating violence over minor payment disputes.
Authorities have initiated legal action based on CCTV footage, emphasizing the gravity of the incident and the need for stringent measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
