Artificial insemination success story unfolds in northern India as Great Indian Bustard chick is born

In a remarkable achievement for wildlife conservation in northern India’s Rajasthan., a healthy chick of the endangered Great Indian Bustard was born using artificial insemination.
The incident took place at an artificial breeding center in Jaisalmer district with the video going viral on October 22.
Visuals showed the chick thriving in monitored lab conditions, moving just like any normal chick. This breakthrough in the conservation of critically endangered species marks a significant milestone.
According to reports, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma praised the efforts of the scientists involved, calling the successful birth a historic achievement in the fight to save the Great Indian Bustard from extinction. The breeding center operates under the “Bustard Conservation and Rehabilitation Program,” aimed at preventing the extinction of Rajasthan’s state bird and increasing its population. The CM also congratulated the scientists, forest department officers, and employees for their dedicated work on this innovative project.
