Army officials come to rescue after train coach-designed restaurant blazes in fire
A restaurant designed to resemble a train coach caught fire due to unknown reasons. The incident did not lead to greater damage thanks to the swift action of two army personnel.
The incident occurred at Cafe Golden Feast, a repurposed “railway coach” restaurant located outside the Guwahati Railway Station in Guwahati, Assam, northeastern India, at approximately 1 p.m. on January 16.
Visuals show a repurposed train engulfed in flames, with two men taking immediate action by using an extinguisher to control the blaze before the arrival of the fire rescue team, while bystanders recorded the scene.
According to reports, a massive fire broke out in the kitchen section of the repurposed “railway coach” restaurant. The fire was contained swiftly due to the prompt and decisive action of two personnel from the 166 MC MF Detachment, part of HQ 22 MC Group of the Indian Army. Naik Babloo Kumar and Naik Amanullah Haque played a crucial role in bringing the fire under control, preventing significant damage to the restaurant, and saving lives.
Firefighters managed to fully extinguish the flames by 2:12 p.m. using water spray. While no casualties were reported, the property, owned by Abhishek Ghosh, suffered significant damage. Fire officials estimated the total property value at ₹50 lahks (USD 57721.65), with losses amounting to ₹15 lahks (USD 17316.49) and assets worth ₹35 lakh (USD 40405.19) saved.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway to determine its origin.
