Armed robbers strike again: hotel owner assaulted, looted at gunpoint in northern India
In a shocking second robbery within two days, armed robbers looted a shop in northern India’s Delhi, stealing ₹12,000 at gunpoint and assaulting a nearby hotel owner who tried to intervene.
The incident took place at Bikaner Sweets in New Seelampur Market in northeast Delhi on September 15.
Visuals showed one of the robbers jumping over the counter, grabbing the money, while others confiscated mobile phones from the customers. In a bid to stop the attack, a hotel owner from a nearby establishment attempted to intervene but was struck on the head with the butt of a pistol by one of the assailants. The robbers, after securing the money and damaging the shop’s equipment, fled the scene within a minute.
Seelampur Market in northeast Delhi witnessed a violent robbery late Sunday night as three armed robbers stormed into Bikaner Sweets, looting approximately ₹12,000 in cash. This incident mirrors a similar robbery that took place just two days earlier at Som Hotel, where the owner was threatened with death. The Delhi Police are using CCTV footage from both incidents to identify the suspects and have initiated a manhunt.
Local shopkeepers are now on edge, expressing concerns over the increasing frequency of such crimes and questioning the security in the area. Authorities have heightened their patrols in response to these back-to-back armed robberies.
