The incident took place at the Axis Bank branch located in Shamli district on October 1.
Visuals showed a lone robber entering the bank with a gun in hand, creating instant fear among everyone inside. As soon as they saw him, panic spread, and all the staff and customers raised their hands in surrender. The atmosphere was filled with tension and confusion, with people trying to stay still, their eyes wide with terror. The once calm bank had turned into a scene of chaos, as the presence of the armed man caused a palpable sense of fear and disorder.
In a daring daylight robbery, an armed man stormed into the Axis Bank branch holding the bank manager hostage for 20 minutes. The robber demanded ₹40 lakh, threatening the manager with two guns. When the manager attempted to trigger the alarm, the assailant aimed his weapons directly at him, forcing compliance. The terrified bank staff, including officers and employees, surrendered without resistance, handing over the cash to the robber.
The Shamli police, led by the Superintendent of Police (SP), arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, deploying forces from multiple police stations. Investigations are underway with the help of CCTV footage. However, the police have raised doubts about the circumstances of the robbery, as they found certain elements of the case suspicious. The SP has initiated questioning of the bank manager and cashier, forming several teams to solve the case swiftly.
The shocking incident has drawn attention to the bank’s security lapses, as a lone assailant was able to overpower both the staff and the security personnel. Police are determined to unravel the truth behind the heist and have assured the public that they will soon crack the case.
