Another bridge collapses in northern India, adding to growing infrastructure concerns

Visuals showed how the bridge collapsed down as the structure crumbled down making a huge noise.
According to reports, the bridge, constructed 10 years ago near the Dhodnath Temple in Janata Bazaar, collapsed, adding Chhapra’s name to the growing list of locations experiencing infrastructure failures. This bridge was built by former MLA of Ekma, Dhumal Singh, and received funding from Dr. Mahachandra Singh in 2014.
This incident has further intensified scrutiny and criticism of Bihar’s infrastructure quality. In recent times, several bridges in the state have collapsed, including the railway overbridge near Bishanpur in Chhapra, which remains damaged and under repair.
The recurring incidents have raised serious concerns about the quality of construction and maintenance of new bridges in Bihar. Many people are questioning why older bridges built during the British era remain standing, while newer structures are failing. The Bihar government is under increasing pressure to address these issues and ensure the safety and reliability of the state’s infrastructure.
