All weather road washed away by torrential rain, halting commute in northern India
In a severe incident in northern India, roads in Uttarakhand were washed away due to torrential rainfall, bringing daily commutes to a standstill.
The incident took place on a road connecting Champawat and Tanakpur district on September 13.
Visuals showed the all-weather road completely destroyed by the heavy downpour, with locals and passersby expressing concern over the devastation. The road appeared broken, covered in debris, and heavily damaged, preventing any movement.
According to reports, several districts in Uttarakhand have been severely affected by the ongoing torrential rains. In Champawat, heavy debris has blocked multiple areas, especially in rural regions. In Raukuwar village, homes were filled with debris, and residents barely managed to escape. Several cattle were reported dead, having been buried under the rubble, and many houses were submerged.
