AI teacher transforming classroom learning in Indian schools
An innovative AI teacher is set to transform the classroom experience in eastern India’s Odisha at the Bhubanananda Odisha School of Engineering (BOSE). Created by a team of three final-year students, this Pi Robot is designed to answer students’ questions fluently and help them understand engineering fundamentals.
Visuals shot on November 22 showed the AI teacher standing in a glass box, draped in traditional Indian saree attire and surrounded by excited students eagerly interacting with it. One student was seen asking questions, and the robot responded swiftly, showcasing the potential of AI to enhance learning. The scene radiated positivity, emphasizing the creativity and technical skills of the students involved in this groundbreaking project.
In the other set of visuals, the principal Hrusikesh Mohanty praised the students for their dedication, noting their work on designing the AI platform, voice recognition system, and building the robot from scratch. He mentioned that the AI teacher project marks a significant achievement in integrating artificial intelligence into practical learning.
The AI teacher is powered by ChatGPT and designed to clear any doubts students have. Inspired by Iris, India’s first AI teacher developed in Kerala, the BOSE team spent six months building their version, using their own electrical and mechanical components. The robot can run for five to six hours, providing a unique educational experience for students at BOSE.
