The northeastern India’s Meghalaya known for its heavy monsoon rains, has experienced a dramatic deluge over the past 48 hours.
The incident took place in Cherrapunji on May 29.
Visuals feature the magnificent weather during the early hours of the day while gigantic white clouds begin to engulf the cliff, making it a scenic setting, straight out of an artist’s dream.
Cherrapunji (also known as Sohra), located in the state of Meghalaya, recorded an astounding 873.2mm of rainfall. This area, already famous for its record-breaking precipitation, has once again lived up to its reputation.
Cherrapunji, a town situated on the southern edge of the Khasi Hills, is globally renowned as one of the wettest places on Earth. The recent rains have led to swollen rivers and the risk of landslides, a common issue in this hilly terrain.
Authorities have issued warnings to residents and travelers, advising caution due to the potential for sudden flooding and disrupted transportation. Emergency services are on high alert, ready to respond to any incidents that may arise from the relentless downpour.
