Auto runs driverless while driver takes a tea break in central India
An auto-rickshaw started moving on its own while its driver had paused to enjoy a cup of tea along the roadside in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place near Unhel bus stand area in Ujjain on May 9.
Visuals showed an auto-rickshaw suddenly began moving on its own in the middle of the road, taking a sharp turn. A bystander, struggling, managed to hop into the auto and bring it to a stop, preventing it from continuing its journey further down the road.
In an unusual incident captured on camera, an auto-rickshaw was seen navigating through the streets of Ujjain without a driver at the helm. The video, which originated from the Unhel bus stand area, depicts the auto-rickshaw moving erratically, making rounds on the highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver had momentarily stepped away from the vehicle to grab a quick tea and snack. In the meantime, the auto-rickshaw began moving on its own, surprising onlookers and commuters alike.
Reacting swiftly to the situation, bystanders managed to intercept the driverless auto-rickshaw and bring it under control before any untoward incident occurred.
