Tragic accident claims one life in, leaves two injured in northern India
In a devastating incident in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir, a dumper met with a fatal accident.
The incident took place on the Jammu Srinagar national highway near Sherbibi, Banihal, Ramban district on April 17.
Visuals showed a dumper lying submerged in the waters, its bulk emerging from the surface as rescue efforts unfolded in the aftermath of the accident. Amidst the chaos, emergency responders worked tirelessly to extricate survivors from the submerged wreckage, highlighting the urgency and intensity of the situation.
According to local authorities, the immediate response from the Police and dedicated Banihal volunteers played a crucial role in rescuing the two injured victims from the wreckage submerged in water. The injured were promptly shifted to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for urgent medical attention.
The deceased has been identified as Nawaz Ahmad Bhat, aged 33, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat, hailing from Laisu Damhal in Kulgam. The injured individuals are Zubair Ahmed Sofi, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi, and Parvaiz Ahmed, son of Bashir, both residents of Kounsarbal DH Pora in Kulgam district.
Both Zubair Ahmed Sofi and Parvaiz Ahmed have been referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag from the Sub District Hospital in Banihal for further medical treatment.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting authorities to emphasize the importance of road safety measures and vigilance, especially on treacherous stretches of highways.
