Man rescued after he collapsed inside well while trying to clean it in southern India
A man was rescued by the fire department after he fell inside of a well while cleaning it due to shortage of oxygen, in southern India’s Kerala.
This incident took place in Chaliyam village in Kozhikode district on March 22.
Visuals showed the rescue operation take place wherein the man was pulled out of the well. An officer of the fire department had gotten down the well and managed to place the man on a big basket-like structure, which was pulled out eventually. The well was pretty deep and he had collapsed after not getting enough oxygen to breathe. The rescuer, who wore an oxygen mask and had a cylinder strapped to his back, was also coming out. Meanwhile, the victim was examined by the cops and found to have sustained bruises on his legs as he fell into the deep well. He was subsequently placed on a stretcher beside and put in an ambulance to be taken for treatment.
The man was later identified as a 41-year-old named Abdul Jabbar and he was from Assam, which is in northeastern India. Fire officer Abdul Jalil got down the well to rescue the man while senior official Abdul Shukur P also participated in the rescue operation. Other Fire and Rescue Officers who were part of this operation were Jalil O Jayesh KT Shaneeb K Abhilash P Najumuddin Illam Thodi Fazil Ali and TP Mithun VM.
