PM Modi hails Indian Army soldiers as emblem of selfless service, unwavering dedication

 

On Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the Indian Army, highlighting their role as a symbol of selfless service. Army Day, observed on January 15, commemorates Field Marshal K M Cariappa assuming office as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949. He replaced British General Sir FRR Bucher and became a symbol of India’s transition to sovereign leadership in the armed forces. The day celebrates the courage, professionalism, and dedication of the men and women of the army who protect the country across challenging terrains and in diverse operational conditions.
