Building collapse turns fatal as people trap under debris in northern India
In a shocking incident, a building collapse turned fatal as people got trapped under debris in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place in Barabanki district on September 4.
Visuals showed the harrowing scenes after the collapse as the officials attempted to save those who were trapped under the debris. Officials of both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were at work as they carried away a victim into an ambulance. They were also seen setting up equipment with which they checked if anyone was trapped inside the rubble of the building. A big crowd had gathered at the area.
As per reports, a two-storey residential apartment suddenly collapsed leading to residents getting trapped under debris. As per the officials, at around 3:10AM the officials received information about the building collapse after which the rescue team rushed to the spot. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials are carrying out further operations to rescue people from debris as further efforts to rescue are underway. As many as 12 people were rescued and were sent for further treatment during which two people succumbed to injuries. Reports of a few more people still trapped under debris have been received by the rescue team.
The reason behind the collapse is not known yet. The injured victims have been sent to King George Medical University for further treatment.
