Massive violence breaks out in southern India after political party worker’s murder

Violence erupted in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh after the murder of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YCP) worker Polishetty Kishore.

The violence broke out in Amalapuram town of BR Ambedkar Konaseema district of the state on September 1.

 

Visuals showed the horrifying aftermath of the violence which created an atmosphere of tension in the town. A building, seemingly a shop, was seen on fire. A massive cutout was also set on fire by those protesting against Kishore’s murder. Incident of vandalism was also reported in the area with visuals of the inside of a house after being vandalised, seen. The fire brigade rushed to the area to put out the flames in the area. Police reached the spot as well and patrolled the area to assure that there weren’t any further incidents of violence.

According to a report, Kishore had a criminal background and his murder was followed by thugs setting fire to a shop, which was located in an apartment where Telegu Desam Party (TDP) leader Gandham Pallamraju stayed. Not just this but miscreants also destroyed the houses in  Edharapalli, which belonged to the suspects behind Kishore’s murder.  However, the cops, lead by the Konaseema Superintendent of Police  SR Sridhar, reacted to this unrest and have set up check posts at crucial points. Besides this, they are also keeping a close watch on the movements of criminals in the area.
