Rescue turns into chaos as wild boar attacks bystanders in residential area

Chaos erupted when a wild boar strayed into a residential area, got its mouth stuck in a gate, and attacked the public after being rescued.

The incident took place at the residence of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Raigarh district, in northern India’s Chhattisgarh on the afternoon of February 28.

Visual shows the wild boar trapped with its mouth stuck in the gate. A team of three rescuers climbs down from the gate to save the boar. They attempt to unlock the gate while holding onto it, but it remains stuck.  After getting down, one man pulls the boar by its hind leg while another holds its face. The panicked boar struggles to free itself as the rescuer carefully removes its face from the gate, successfully releasing it.

However, immediately after being freed, the wild boar charges at the rescue team and later attempts to attack people on the road, causing panic as bystanders flee in fear.

Speaking to Newslions, Hemlal Jaiswal, Range forest officer, Raigarh, said the wild boar had reportedly wandered from Gajmar hill into the residential area, where it became stuck at the bungalow of DFO Stylo Madangi. After the initial rescue, the boar fled the scene. The forest department responded promptly upon receiving the information. After several hours of effort, the injured wild boar was later found trapped in a drain near the DFO residence. It was taken to a veterinarian for treatment but unfortunately died before reaching the facility.
