Tragedy strikes after four-storey building collapses, rescue underway
A newly constructed four-storey building collapsed, causing the deaths of two young girls. The rescue operation is underway, and 12 individuals have been rescued so far.
The collapse took place in Burari village, in northern India’s Delhi on January 27.
Visuals show a man lying on his stomach in the dark under the debris, trying to rescue a woman. After struggling, he successfully pulls her out as someone shines a flashlight from outside. She is carefully helped out of the rubble while the man attempts to rescue another person who is waving their hand for help under the collapsed building.
The rescue teams, along with the police, are seen entering the debris in the dark, shining their phone flashlights to assist in the rescue.
The team prepares for the rescue by removing timbers from the collapsed building to clear a path in the dark. A few men enter the building with ropes, while others shine lights to guide them.
According to sources, two young girls died in the collapse, and 12 individuals have survived so far and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The rescue operation has been ongoing all night, carried out by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), along with the police and fire department. The rescue operation is underway as some people are still trapped.
