A major altercation erupted on the Indian-Bangladesh border, a gas bomb was thrown from the Bangladesh side, at the Border Security Force (BSF) following a dispute over crop harvesting. Two BSF soldiers were injured.

The incident took place in the Sukhdevpur Border of Malda district, West Bengal, on January 18.

According to reports, local farmers cultivate land near the international boundary. A group of Bangladeshi soldiers crossed into Indian territory and began forcibly harvesting crops. This action led to a confrontation with the villagers, which soon escalated into a full-blown altercation.

As the situation intensified, a large crowd gathered at the scene, and the Border Security Force (BSF) was called in to control the situation. The situation was further exacerbated when Bangladesh Border Guards allegedly attacked the BSF personnel.

Following the clash, BSF troops managed to repel the Bangladeshi soldiers, restoring order to the area. While reports indicate some injuries among the BSF ranks, no official statement has been issued by the paramilitary force yet.

This incident comes on the heels of a similar disturbance reported earlier in North 24 Parganas district, highlighting the rising tensions along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
