Building engulfed in fire after multiple gas cylinder explosions

A devastating fire broke out in Sisa Golai, with multiple gas cylinder explosions intensifying the blaze, completely destroying a three-story wooden house and partially damaging nearby properties.

The incident took place at Sisa Golai, under Gangtok District, Sikkim, northeast India, on January 13.

According to reports, four to five gas cylinder explosions during a house fire engulfed a three-story wooden house at around 12:30 PM, intensifying the blaze and completely reducing the structure to ashes. The house, owned by Mr. Padam Bahadur Thapa, housed several tenants who have now been displaced. Additionally, three nearby homes sustained partial damage. These properties belong to Mr. Mohan Basnett, Ms. Amravati Chettri, and Ms. Sushila Basnett. This marks the second fire-related incident reported on January 13.

Local authorities, including SDM Gangtok, Mr. Mahendra Chettri, and DDMA Training Officer, Ms. Bijayata Kharel, inspected the site shortly after the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
