Youth clings to car bonnet for miles amid dispute

A boy clung to the bonnet of a car for several kilometers after a clash with the driver.

The incident took place in the Shastri Nagar area of Barmer city in Barmer district,  Rajasthan, northern India, on December 7.

Visuals show the young boy initially hanging on the roof and later on the bonnet as the driver sped recklessly.

According to reports, Virendra, the young man, alleges that while he was taking out his car, the Scorpio driver suddenly applied brakes and began abusing him. When Virendra’s father tried to intervene, the driver abused him too. Virendra then stood in front of the Scorpio, and the driver began driving, forcing him to climb onto the bonnet. The driver fled with the boy still on the bonnet, and the family and neighbors pursued the vehicle.

At Sadar police station, the Scorpio driver and police officers allegedly removed the boy from the car and beat him, even breaking his mobile. Following the incident, the youth’s family and others protested outside the police station, demanding action against the driver. The Scorpio driver, Raghu Daukia, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized. Further action will be based on the reports of both parties.
