Snow-covered road sends bus careening into pickup truck
The incident took place in Narkanda town of Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh on December 27.
Visuals show the bus moving normally, but as it continued, it began to slip on the snow-covered road and lightly collided with a pickup truck. This impact prevented the bus from eventually skidding into a ditch.
According to reports, the roads in the high-altitude regions of Narkanda are particularly slick due to snowfall, with more than two inches of snow having fallen there. As a result, traffic has been diverted via Luhri-Sunni from Sainj to Shimla. Large vehicles are more prone to slipping in these conditions.
The meteorological department forecasts mild to moderate rainfall and snowfall in several areas of Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi districts until the next 24 hours. There is also expected to be occasional heavy snowfall, in addition to light to moderate snowfall, in areas of Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti districts.
