Leopard invades residential area, pet dog’s brave defense of home

The incident occurred in the Coonoor area of the Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, and a video of the event went viral on December 25.
The visual shows the leopard chasing and catching the dog, which barks and struggles to escape. The dog fights back, and when the homeowner, alerted by the commotion, turns on the lights, the leopard flees and hides in nearby bushes.
According to reports, the forest department has initiated measures to capture the leopard using a cage trap. Residents have expressed concerns, noting that leopards, which often rest in tea gardens during the day, have been increasingly venturing into residential areas at night to prey on pets left outdoors.
