Transformer explosion triggers massive fire, leaving community in panic
A massive transformer explosion sparks a raging fire, sending the community into panic as firefighters rush to the scene.
The incident took place in the Bahadurpura area of Hyderabad, Telangana, southern India, on December 13.
Visuals show the transformer engulfed in flames, sending thick smoke into the air. The sudden eruption of flames ignited nearby piles of garbage, rapidly spreading and threatening surrounding commercial establishments. Firefighters were seen battling the blaze with water hoses and extinguishers late into the evening.
Speaking to Newslions, B. Surrender Reddy, Station Fire Officer at Chandulal Baradari, explained that while the fire spread quickly, the team managed to contain it in time. He also confirmed that no casualties were reported during the incident. He noted that the fire teams acted swiftly, preventing the blaze from spreading further and averting major damage.
He went on to describe how the explosion, which occurred near local businesses, caused a loud bang and billowing smoke. The flames quickly ignited nearby rubbish, endangering surrounding shops. The noise triggered panic, prompting people to flee and immediately call emergency services.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the Bahadurpura Police, who are considering factors like faulty wiring or equipment failure.
