The incident took place in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur, northeastern India on December 10.

According to reports, a case was filed, and action was taken against those involved in illegal poppy plantations. Chief Minister N Biren Singh praised the efforts of the combined team of Kangpokpi district police and 90 CRPF personnel, led by Additional SP (L/O) and supervised by SP Kangpokpi, for destroying 14 acres of illegal poppy plantations near Thonglang Akutpa. An FIR was registered for further investigation. He also acknowledged the contributions of the CRPF, highlighting that these actions reaffirmed the commitment of the State and Union governments to eradicating drug threats and advancing the War on Drugs campaign.
