Fear turns to relief as leopard saved from well in thrilling rescue mission

Panic gripped western India’s Gujarat after a leopard entered the area and fell into a well behind a local resident’s house.

The incident took place in Ranjit Nagar village in Ghoghamba taluka of Panchmahal district on November 24.

Visuals showed the leopard were seen scared in the well, the forest department puts a piece of wood tied with a rope in the well, and then the leopard sits on it after a lot of hard work. The officials put a cage in the well and took the leopard out safely.

This occurred late at night, led to swift action by the forest department and local authorities to rescue the trapped animal.

According to reports, the leopard entered Vasawa Paliya on Chelawada Road and fell into the well belonging to Dineshbhai Meljibhai Vasawa. Around midnight, the sound of a barking dog alerted the household. Upon investigation, Dinesh Vasawa discovered that the protective net over the well was broken, leaving the animal trapped in the water.

Fearing for their safety, villagers immediately informed the Rajgarh Police and the Forest Department. A rescue team led by Rajgarh Range Forest Officer (RFO) Mahipal Singh Parmar, along with foresters Kanpur Palas and Seemalia, arrived promptly at the scene. The team, including staff from the Ranjitnagar Round, coordinated efforts to safely extract the leopard using a cage lowered into the well.

The operation concluded successfully, with the leopard rescued unharmed. Speaking about the incident, Godhra Division DFO Meena and RFO Parmar stated that the animal would be examined for injuries. If found in good health, it would be released back into the forest. Otherwise, it would be transported to the Dhobi Kuva Center for treatment.
