Wild hyena invades Indian village raising panic amongst residents

A wild hyena caused panic among villagers in central India’s Madhya Pradesh after straying into a residential area, leading to a tense overnight rescue operation by forest officials.

The unusual encounter took place in Manchi village of Tikamgarh district on November 23.

Visuals showed the wild hyena wreaking havoc inside a house, appearing menacing as it prowled through the village at night, even lurking behind stationary cars. The tense atmosphere heightened after sundown, as the disoriented animal’s movements alarmed residents.

According to reports, upon receiving information, forest officials arrived and urged locals to remain indoors for their safety. By late evening, the team managed to confine the hyena in a house and released it into the Alpur Nursery Forest. However, unsettled by noise and crowds, the animal attempted to return to the village, escalating the challenge.

With help from cooperative villagers, the forest department recaptured the hyena, transporting it safely to a secluded forested area. The operation concluded without any untoward incidents, ensuring the safety of both the community and the animal.

The successful rescue highlighted the expertise of the forest department and the villagers’ crucial support.
