A dramatic rescue unfolded in northern India’s Uttarakhand, as a blue bull calf was saved from drowning by police personnel and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The incident took place in Shakti Canal of Dehradun district on November 23.

The calf, tethered by its horns with a rope, was seen being pulled to safety by the rescuers. With a concerted effort, the team successfully guided the animal to the shore, where additional officials helped pull the calf out of the water.

Led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Suresh Tomar, the team quickly mobilized with rescue equipment to the scene. Despite the challenging conditions, the team swam into the canal and managed to reach the calf, ultimately ensuring its safe recovery and subsequent handover to the Forest Department.

The rescue operation carried out under bright daylight, has been praised for the swift and coordinated efforts of the officials involved, ensuring the safety of the animal.
