Hindu rally in Bangladesh attacked by radical mob while they protest for their fundamental rights
Hindus traveling to participate in a demonstration rally in Bangladesh faced violent attacks from a mob of Islamic radicals.
The incident took place in Rangpur district on November 22.
Visuals showed the chaotic atmosphere, showing a massive crowd waving saffron flags and raising slogans under broad daylight. Despite the disruption and injuries inflicted by the attackers, many participants managed to reach Mahiganj College Ground to attend the rally.
According to reports, the rally, organized by the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jot, aimed to advocate for eight critical demands for minority rights and protection under the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. These demands included swift justice for atrocities against minorities, accompanied by compensation and rehabilitation, the enactment of a Minority Protection Act, and the establishment of a Ministry of Minority Affairs. Participants also called for upgrading the Hindu Welfare Trust into a Hindu Foundation, the implementation of laws to protect and recover minority-owned properties, and the creation of worship spaces in educational institutions with prayer rooms in hostels. Further, they urged for the modernization of the Sanskrit and Pali Education Board and a mandatory five-day holiday during Durga Puja.
Despite the violent attempts to suppress their voices, the Hindu community displayed remarkable resilience, pressing forward with their rally and demands.
