Jaw-dopping! driver packs 15 passengers into a 4-seater autorickshaw in northern India!
In northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, a traffic officer conducting a routine check was left astounded after intercepting an autorickshaw crammed with 15 passengers, over four times its permitted capacity, leading to a hefty fine and public outcry.
The incident took place at Pal Chauraha on the Tirva route, Kannauj district on November 18.
Visuals showed the vehicle, legally authorized to carry a driver and three passengers, shockingly held 15 individuals. The driver, a disabled person had managed this feat by squeezing multiple passengers even onto his driver’s seat, forcing him to twist uncomfortably while navigating.
Traffic in-charge Afaaq Khan, overseeing the operation, stopped the autorickshaw and was stunned upon counting the passengers. Describing the situation as hazardous, he highlighted the immense risk posed by such overcrowding. The driver was fined ₹6,500 for violating traffic regulations, including operating without a valid license. Khan warned of stricter action, including license cancellation, if such negligence recurs.
While some were amused after watching this incident, others expressed concern over the safety of passengers and criticized the driver for prioritizing monetary gains over human lives. Local residents voiced frustration over the recurring disregard for traffic laws.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by reckless behavior on the roads and the critical need for strict enforcement of traffic regulations.
