In a dramatic incident in southern India’s Karnataka, a massive water pipeline burst after a builder’s illegal connection caused chaos in a local area.
The incident took place at BDS Layout near Hegde Nagar in Bengaluru city on November 13.
Visuals showed the water surging from the pipeline in a powerful burst, rising to great heights and reaching the windows of nearby buildings. The fountain-like eruption flooded the road, particularly in the late hours of the day, causing widespread disruption.According to reports, a private office in the area was severely damaged when the water leak shattered its glass windows and the windshield of a parked car. The surrounding area was inundated, and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) took four hours to repair the damage. BWSSB Chairman Ram Prasat Manohar stated that the Cauvery State 5 pipeline ruptured due to the Royal Bliss Apartment’s owner in Hegde Nagar illegally linking a sanitary line to the water pipeline. The issue was discovered after residents complained about severe damage to nearby properties. The builder had concealed the illegal connection with concrete. The affected pipeline was later cleaned and disinfected, according to the chairman.
