In a shocking incident from central India’s Madhya Pradesh, a borewell began releasing flames along with water, leaving residents and officials astonished.
The incident took place at Khadda village, which is under the Semaria police jurisdiction in Rewa district on November 9.
Visuals showed in a field, flames erupted intensely from a borewell instead of water, with large, high-reaching tongues of fire. The powerful blaze startled onlookers, casting an eerie glow over the area. Numerous concerned people gathered nearby, watching anxiously as the flames continued to surge from the borewell.
According to reports the borewell was being drilled by local farmer Girish Shakya suddenly began emitting flames alongside water, creating a dangerous situation in the village.
The event unfolded as the borewell reached a considerable depth. Initially, onlookers were baffled, as they had never encountered such a sight. Efforts to extinguish the flames were unsuccessful, as the blaze only intensified. Villagers, unable to control the flames, promptly notified the local police.
Upon arrival, police officers were equally astonished by the scene. Working together with the villagers, they managed to contain the flames after a strenuous three-hour effort. Semaria Station House Officer Avneesh Pandey commented, “We received information that a borewell in Khadda village was emitting fire along with water. We suspect a methane gas leak as the probable cause, which led to the outbreak of flames.”
The incident has raised concerns in the area, as borewells are commonly used in rural regions. However, methane gas leaks are known to cause such dangerous occurrences, which may pose serious risks if proper safety precautions are not followed.
