Snake found in Vasco-da-Gama Express’s AC coach in western India, railway authorities take swift action

A snake was found in an AC coach of the Vasco-da-Gama weekly express in western India’s Goa alarming passengers.

The incident took place inside Vasco-da-Gama weekly express (Train 17322) during its journey from Jasidih, Jharkhand, to Vasco-da-Gama, Goa on October 21.

Visuals showed the snake was  slithering near the lower berth, causing fear among passengers.

Videos of the snake crawling near the curtains surfaced online, with Ankit Kumar Sinha, whose parents were aboard the coach, raising the alarm on social media platform X. He tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Indian Railways officials, seeking immediate action.

Sinha wrote: “Snake found in Train -17322 (Jasidih to Vasco De Gama) on berth on date of 21st Oct… Please take immediate action.” The Railway Seva team responded swiftly, requesting Sinha to share his parents’ PNR details and mobile number to ensure speedy redressal.

IRCTC staff, with the assistance of a brave passenger, safely trapped the snake using a bedsheet. The fate of the snake post-removal remains unknown. The Railway authorities assured passengers that appropriate actions were being taken to address the incident, while Ranchi’s divisional railway office confirmed that the matter had been forwarded to the concerned authorities for further investigation.
