Security forces avert disaster by defusing landmine in central India

In a significant operation, security forces successfully identified and defused a landmine planted by Maoists in central India’s Chhattisgarh, averting a potential tragedy.

The incident took place at Korcholi, which is under the jurisdiction of Cobra Police Station in Bijapur District on October 20.

Visuals showed in an open field, security forces executed a controlled detonation of a bomb, sending plumes of dust and debris into the air. The explosion echoed through the area, creating a sense of urgency and relief, as the operation aimed to prevent any harm to nearby civilians and police personnel.

During a routine patrol, security forces received intelligence about a landmine, reportedly intended to target local police forces. Upon arriving at the scene, the bomb squad swiftly took action, identifying a five kg improvised explosive device (IED) concealed in the area.

Thanks to their prompt response and expertise, the bomb squad was able to defuse the landmine without incident, preventing what could have been a devastating loss of life. The successful operation highlights the ongoing threat posed by Maoist insurgents in the region and the critical role of security forces in safeguarding the community.

Authorities continue to urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as efforts to combat Maoist violence persist in Chhattisgarh.
