Minor train derailment unfolds in western India, halts rail traffic with no casualties

In a suburban incident in western India’s Maharashtra, a train slightly derailed while it was approaching the station.

The incident took place at Kalyan station in Thane district on October 18.

Visuals showed the train’s rear coach off the track under dim lights, as officials monitored the situation with flashlights.

According to reports, the derailment occurred at around 9 p.m., as the Titwala-CSMT train approached platform number 2, disrupting the mainline services. No passengers were injured in the incident, though several trains running along the same route were affected. The Central Railway’s public relations officer, Swapnil Nila, confirmed that the derailment happened at a slow speed, minimizing damage. The Mumbai Division DRM also issued a statement on social media, acknowledging the technical issue that caused delays and apologizing for the inconvenience caused to commuters.
