Stone pelting and firing left several injured, prompting authorities to suspend internet services in the Bahraich district as a precaution, which continued into Wednesday. A heavy police deployment followed, with markets shuttered and residents remaining indoors.

The main suspect, Salman, is still at large, while the Uttar Pradesh Police intensify efforts for his capture. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Mishra’s family on Tuesday, assuring strict action against those responsible for this “unforgivable crime.” He also announced financial aid of Rs 10 lakh for the grieving family.

On October 17, two accused in the Bahraich violence case, Mohammed Sarfaraz and Mohammed Talib, were injured during an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh STF and taken to Bahraich District Hospital. Police report that a total of five people have been arrested.
