Car drives away after running over six-year-old in central India

In a horrifying incident, a car ran over a little boy in the middle of the road in central India’s Chhattisgarh.

The incident took place in the Vasundhara Vihar colony, Gandhi Nagar police station area Ambikapur, Surguja district on October 15.

The heartwrenching visuals showed the child was sitting on the road making some markings while two others were playing badminton around him. Suddenly a car driven by the driver ran over him. A woman nearby even attempted to stop the driver.

According to reports, Dheeraj Singhdev, a former district panchayat member and political party leader had taken his six-year-old son, Svatantra Singhdev, to visit his sister in Vasundhara Vihar the previous night. Around 10 PM, Svatantra went outside their home while a woman nearby was playing badminton with another child. While sitting close to them, Svatantra started making markings on the road. Tragically, he was quickly rushed to Sanjeevani Hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Apollo Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Svatantra Singhdev was cremated in Balrampur, and Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Netam came to pay his respects to the family. Svatantra was a first-grade student at a private school, and his sad passing led all the shops in Balrampur to close in mourning. The community came together to say a heartfelt goodbye to the young boy.
