A section of a construction site collapsed in southern India’s Karnataka following relentless rainfall, raising concerns about safety protocols and the stability of ongoing projects.
The incident took place at Manyata Tech Park in Bengaluru on October 15.
Visuals showed after the heavy rain, a portion of the construction site crumbled and fell, resembling a landslide. The ground, saturated and unstable, gave way, sending a cascade of mud and debris tumbling down. Piles of soil shifted ominously, creating deep fissures as the wet earth slid downwards. Workers and machinery were surrounded by the chaotic scene, with remnants of scaffolding and materials strewn across the area, highlighting the suddenness of the collapse.
According to reports Manyata Tech Park was severely flooded due to continuous heavy rainfall, disrupting the daily lives of tech professionals in the area. Roads within the 300-acre park were submerged, leading to significant traffic congestion across major routes, including the Outer Ring Road and Tumkur Road. In response to the worsening conditions, Bengaluru’s Deputy Commissioner declared a holiday for all schools, while tech workers were advised to leave the office early to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
