Youth assaulted by Bajrang Dal activists in northern India after attempting to join Dandiya event with altered identity
In a shocking incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, Bajrang Dal activists assaulted a young man who attempted to join a Dandiya program by changing his name.
The incident took place outside the Dandiya event in Motijheel of Kanpur district, went viral on October 4.
Visuals showed the activists chasing the man around the street during late hours as he desperately tried to evade their blows. Onlookers were left confused and shocked, unable to comprehend the violence taking place.

According to reports, the victim had altered his name to gain entry into the Dandiya program. Recently, Hindu organizations in Madhya Pradesh had issued a ban on non-Hindus attending Dandiya events. Leaders from groups like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal had demanded that non-Hindus be barred from organizing Garba and Dandiya events, even suggesting that participants present their Aadhaar cards for entry. The growing resentment among Hindu organizations culminated in this violent incident.
