Tragic! 24-year-old loses balance on footboard, dragged by train in southern India

In a tragic incident in southern India’s Tamil Nadu, a 24-year-old youngster lost his life after falling from the footboard of an express train.

The incident took place in Saidapet railway station of Chennai district on October 2.

Visuals showed the victim sitting on the footboard of a moving train. As the train passed through a station, he lost his balance and fell onto the platform, sliding for several meters before being dragged onto the track. He was run over, resulting in his immediate death.

According to reports, the victim has been identified as P. Balamurugan, 24, from Kattumannarkoil in Cuddalore district. He was traveling in the general compartment of the Vaigai Express when the incident took place at the Saidapet railway station around 2:30 pm. Police confirmed that Balamurugan lost his balance as the train was crossing Saidapet, leading to the fatal accident.
