Swift NDRF action saves 29 passengers stranded in bus amidst heavy rains in western India

In a harrowing incident in western India’s Gujarat, a bus carrying 29 individuals was stuck in a stream due to heavy rainfall.

The incident occurred in Koliyak village of Bhavnagar district on September 26.

Visuals showed the intense rescue operation carried out by NDRF personnel during the dark hours. They were seen braving the strong currents, holding onto a rope, and forming a line to reach the stranded passengers. One by one, the rescuers pulled the individuals from the bus and guided them safely to the shore.

Speaking to Newslions, NDRF official Mr. Anupam from Vadodara stated that the NDRF team left Amreli district at 9:00 p.m. and reached the site in Bhavnagar at 12:40 a.m. While waiting for the NDRF’s arrival, local villagers and the fire brigade had already tied ropes to the bus and started shifting passengers onto a truck. The NDRF team conducted their operation from 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m., rescuing two passengers. The remaining 27 passengers were safely evacuated earlier by truck. In total, 29 people were rescued, including 19 women and 10 men. The operation concluded at 3:20 a.m.
