Dubai flight from southern India faces delay as smoke emanates from wing during refueling

The incident took place at Chennai International Airport of Chennai city on September 24.
Visuals showed firefighters rushing to the scene as they swiftly brought the situation under control. Technical experts were seen inspecting the aircraft to assess if any repairs were necessary before takeoff. The crew remained on the ground, and the smoke from the flight appeared massive, raising concerns about the potential threat to the passengers if they were onboard.
According to reports, the smoke was noticed while the ground staff was refueling the aircraft around 9:40 pm. The staff immediately alerted the pilots, leading them to shut off the engines. Although the cause of the smoke is yet to be confirmed, initial suggestions indicate that heat generated from excess fuel in the tank could have been the trigger.
The 320 passengers scheduled to board were accommodated in the airport waiting area as boarding was delayed. After a thorough inspection, the flight was cleared for takeoff with 280 passengers onboard.
